Course Description:
1 PDH Credit
Participants will learn the requirements to produce both a Baseline and Proposed LEED model. They will learn which design elements can best exceed the baseline requirements and optimize the energy efficiency of their buildings. Participants will be able to apply these energy modeling strategies to their design concepts. They will learn which building systems (envelope, HVAC, Controls, Lighting, Glazing, etc.) yield the highest results in energy savings for their buildings. They will also learn what rebate programs are available in their regions for the best energy and cost savings for the projects.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will learn what design elements meet LEED prerequisites for the energy model and how to go beyond those requirements to achieve additional energy credits.
- Participants will learn how to properly evaluate the building envelope (glass, mullion, glazing assembly U-values, wall R-values, roof) to provide the best info for a LEED compliant energy model.
- Participants will learn which building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and additional options can optimize the energy performance of the building.
- Participants will learn what local utility energy rebate programs are available for energy efficient design and the potential savings they can yield for their projects.
