Chapter Dinner Meeting - September 2022: Applying Noise Control to HVAC Mechanical Equipment

Acoustics play a major role in the design of HVAC systems. Loud noises and vibrations coming from mechanical equipment not only make the workplace uncomfortable, but it also can be a safety hazard for the workers and can pose a structural threat to the building.
Join us as guest speaker, Dan LaForgia of Vibro-Acoustics, gives us an in-depth look at HVAC Acoustics and strategies on keeping noise and vibration levels to acceptable levels. Learn about the basic principles of acoustics (how it is produced and propagates) and more importantly learn about how it can be controlled. The speaker will give real-life examples using everyday mechanical equipment.
COURSE BREAKDOWN:
- The importance of system effect/silencer testing
- Generator noise control
- Air-cooled chiller noise control
- RTU noise control
- Other applications
- Q&A session
