Join members of the Department of Buildings (DOB) for the seventh webinar in a series dedicated to Local Law 97 (LL97) reporting. 

On Thursday, March 20th at 11:00 am, the DOB will present on how to navigate the Local Law 97 (LL97) reporting portal for compliance with Local Law 88. 

There will be a Q & A box for submitting questions, which will be answered by the DOB. 

The webinar will be recorded for future viewing and posted on both the ASHRAE and DOB websites. 

ASHRAE membership is not required, and the webinar is free to attend.

SPEAKERS

Emily Hoffman, Director, DOB Office of Building Energy and Emissions Performance (OBEEP)

Emily Hoffman is the Director of the Office of Building Energy and Emissions Performance (OBEEP) at the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB). She leads the implementation of Local Law 97 reporting and oversees the enforcement of both legacy sustainability laws and the newly established OBEEP audit team responsible for ensuring compliance with LL97. Before taking on this role, Emily spent 10 years leading the department’s Energy Code team, where she spearheaded the development and enforcement of the 2014, 2016, and 2020 versions of the NYC Energy Code. She also served as Vice Chair of the ICC Energy Code Committee. In recognition of her work, Emily received the Energy Professional Development of the Year award from the Association of Energy Engineers in 2019 and 2020 and was named an NYC Climate Hero in 2020.

Emily Poorvin, Senior Building Energy and Emissions Auditor, DOB Office of Building Energy and Emissions Performance (OBEEP)

Emily Poorvin is a Senior Building Energy and Emissions Auditor within OBEEP. Before joining DOB last year, Emily supported LL97 and other sustainability laws’ implementation for city government operations at the Department of Citywide Administrative Services Division of Energy Management for over six years, focusing on compliance, regulatory affairs, public reporting, data management, and organizational growth. Emily is dedicated to decarbonizing NYC’s building stock and improving the lives of New Yorkers by implementing LL97 and NYC’s other sustainability local laws.

Emily holds a Master’s of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University and a Master’s of Science in Geological Sciences from Rutgers University.

Mauton Whenu, Senior Building Energy and Emissions Auditor, DOB Office of Building Energy and Emissions Performance (OBEEP)

Mauton Whenu is a Senior Building Energy and Emissions Auditor at NYC Department of Buildings, focusing on Local Law 97 implementation. With a background in architecture, construction, and sustainability, he previously worked as a Project Advocate and Energy Code Compliance Auditor. Mauton holds a Master's in Environmental Design and a Bachelor's in Architecture from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He's certified as a CEM, CBCP, and BOC-1, and has completed various certification courses from The Cooper Union. Passionate about sustainability, Mauton leverages his diverse experience to advance New York City's climate action initiatives and create a more sustainable built environment.
